Want to be successful? How about making a change? Promise me you’ll watch these videos!

August 31, 2012

If you’re like me, you tend to get stuck in a rut of doing the same thing over and over.

Now some people may call these videos below “selling out” but really, if doing what you’ve been doing isn’t working, perhaps it’s time to try something new.

After all, it has worked for dozens, if not hundreds of artists.

Lady Gaga went from this:

To this:

As talented as Stefani Germanotta is, she would likely be playing coffee shops and dive bars her whole life if she didn’t make a change.

She could have toiled in obscurity for HER WHOLE LIFE unless she made a change!

She changed her name to Lady Gaga and changed her ENTIRE music style at the suggestion of her producer!

And now she’s a HUGE star.

You have to figure out how you are going to market your music.

Especially if you are a singer/songwriter or making music in a genre that THOUSANDS of other artists are doing.

Katy Perry went from this gig at Hotel Cafe:

To this:

Perhaps this just shows the power of a good label!

But I think the bigger lesson is that you need to make a change if you want to get people’s attention.

Labels know this.

Try something new! A different style of songwriting. A different genre of music. Change up what you wear on stage. Remake your image. Or get one!!!

I promise, if what you’re doing now isn’t attracting fans and attention, somthing else will – keep looking for it!
